Qurbin Nawafil

Imam Jaffar Sadiq

In Surah Al-Imran, Allah says:
"Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay they live finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord."
It is advised that we get close to Allah, if we are not able to do so, then get close that are close to Allah.
They are the awliyahs,'Friends of Allah" and Imam Jaffar Sadiq is such as one.
Recently we had a majlis commemorating Imam Jaffar Sadiq on 22 Rejab.
It is narrated that Imam Jaffar Sadiq and his companions were walking in a government courtyard and overheard the conversation of two women thus;
the poor women had a husband that went away to earned some rezki, but after a long time the husband had not send home any money and no news was heard about him. Life was hard for the women.
Hearing this, Imam Jaffar Sadiq said that anyone who makes a majlis in remembering him and bake two types of bread and feed the people; that person's desire or dua's will be fulfilled. If the dua's is not fulfilled, then on the day of Qiamah that person can grab the cloak of Imam Jaffar Sadiq and asked for the dua to be fulfilled. On hearing this, the women baked two types of bread and feed the people. Soon after, by the Grace of Allah, the husband returned home with enough  wealth for them to live comfortably.
Note:
1. The majlis should be held on 22 Rejab and done consistently every year
2. Two types of bread baked and served to the people
3. The story of the women should be narrated to the people

Looking to see.

Observe and absorb; an advice given by my guide.  One of the basic habits that needs to be cultivated when you on the Path. Just imagine you are going for a wak in a wondeful garden; what do you do?
You look around the beautiful scenery, smell the the sweet scents of the flowers tingling your nostrils, feel the gentle breeze that caresses your face, hear the crooning of the birds; in  other words, you are trying to absorb the atmosphere of the garden.
Allah says in the Quran; in the self of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) there is the best of examples. So what examples does the Prophet has? It is everything! The way he walked, talked, ate, interact with his family, friends, enemies. His actions are examples that we can follow. Get a book on the sirah/history of the Prophet, therelies his actions we need to emulate.
When in the Path, you need to observe your actions; how you walk, sit, eat, interact with your famiy, friends, peers and the pubic. This is called Muhasabah; examine yourself and correct any unethical actions to good actions. Say good and kind words to people, help the needy, smile and give charity.
A muslim is one whom other people are safe from his words and actions.
There are already enough hatred and enmity in this world, so lets not allow our actions to add more to this world. [moz]

On the Straight Path

Life's a Journey. That's what a lot of people said to me.
But then seldom do they informed me of my destination, or how do I go about embarking on this journey. Do I take some sort of vehicle, or take a walk until I drop dead?
By the Grace of the Creator, I met a guide who is travelling on this journey. He taught me of my destination, how to start this life's journey; basically guided me in my travel.
To make my journey sweeter he accompanies me on this journey.
So together with him I had experienced and tasted what its like to be traveller, a Suluk, journeying to a destination that had been shown to me.
Come with me on this 'interesting' journey, perchance you may accompany me and together we may witness the Reality of the destination.
